Log Cabin Civic Center

The City of San Augustine Civic Center, known locally as the Log Cabin, is a charming venue with easy access from Highway 21 and plenty of parking. Shaded by mature chinquapin oaks, the building has a large event room and a small meeting room with windows onto the greenspace behind the building, as well as a full kitchen and two restrooms.  The facility is available to civic groups and citizens for gatherings of many types.

The building has large covered porches and a wooden swing out back, making the Log Cabin a great venue for both indoor and outdoor events.  The rear porch opens onto an expansive grass lawn that slopes down to Ayish Bayou, crossed by an elevated boardwalk with a gazebo entrance.  The boardwalk extends over the Bayou and into Sante Fe Park with the charmingly rustic Ayish Hall, across from the historic Lewis Hotel.  A 1/3 mile nature trail winds through the woods, beginning at the small wooden bridge near the caboose and terminating at South Broadway, Highway 147 just south of Mission Dolores.

If you are in need anything for your event, there is a large grocery store across the road, and many other stores are nearby.

To reserve your date, call City Hall at (936) 275-2121.  The building is suitable for a variety of meetings and  celebrations, including weddings, birthdays, reunions, and more, and is popular with civic clubs and business presenters.

The building is located at 611 W Columbia St, in the "Y" intersection where Columbia meets Main St / State Highway 21.  Access to the parking lot is available on both the Columbia and the Hwy 21 sides.

The San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce has an office in this building and holds their monthly luncheon there on the third Tuesday of each month - guests are welcome.  They serve lunch for a nominal fee and have a program and door prizes.  They also serves as our Tourism Center for the area.  You can reach them at (936) 275-3610.  

To rent the building, a $700.00 fee must be paid to the City of San Augustine in advance. This fee includes the $300.00 Rental Fee , a $100.00 Cleaning Fee and a $300.00 Deposit.  Your deposit is refunded if the bulding is put back in order as found.  Fees can be paid at the City Hall with Credit/Debit Card, Check or Money Order, also you can pay online(Pay Other Items) but please make sure the building has been reserved for your use before doing so. Upon satisfactory inspection of the facility after the completion of the rental, the deposit will  returned by mail to the address provided by the renter approximately two weeks after the event, assuming that all rules and regulations are followed and, again, that there is no damage to the facility or missing contents.

The renter must be a citizen or business owner residing or doing business within San Augustine County, of legal age and capacity to contract. A copy of the rules and regulations may be viewed at City Hall and a copy will be given to the renter upon receiving the rental fees.
