Mandatory Public Reporting of Two Violations from TCEQ

New Tanks with Old being demolished.

This is a release for 2 Violations from the TCEQ. One is for being over  allowable TTHM (Trihalomethanes) maximum on the yearly running average in Q1 2018, and the other is a failure to report to the State our Surface Water Monthly Operating Report (SWMOR) in May of 2018. The TTHM average is nothing new, and now that the two new surface tanks have been operating for a while we expect the average will drop well below the mandated levels. The other issue with the monthly reporting is due to the fact the Post Office occasionally varies the delivery time such that even though we mail reports at the same time, they might be received late which becomes a violation. The TCEQ has no online reporting and chooses to rely on snail mail which causes this issue. Reporting is a very manual process despite technology available in the age in which we live. You can see both mandatory reports attached. I have posted a photo along with this news release showing the recent demolition of an old tank along side the new ones. Getting rid of that old 1950's tank will bring our averages in TTHM down well under the allowable range. We will now be able to take a single tank off line to maintain it while still supplying water to town.

City Management recently had a Q&A at City Hall for the water system to include topics such as these. Only three people came, and they were all City and County Government. If you want another one to hear about what is going on with San Augustine's water we will do it again if anyone will show up for it. Email interest to info@cosatx.com
