Boil Notice Rescinded

Water Drop

We received back lab reports, and we are lifting the precautionary boil notice we issued last week. To be clear, we never had any known issues with pathogens or poor test result that caused us to issue the notice. We were in the process of plumbing the new ground storage tanks to the system, and getting some of our red dirt in the lines was unavoidable. We wanted to be safe, and so came down on the side of caution. We are sorry for inconveniences we may have caused.

The bright spot is this was a sign of positive change. We now have two brand new 300,000 gallon tanks on line. We removed from service the old 500,000 gallon tank. Working alone, that tank could never be serviced. In one massive achievement the turbidity went from 0.34 down to 0.014 which is excellent. Our TTHM (Trihalomethane) issue will also improve or may go away all together. This is great news for half the county served by the plant at City Lake.

The old tank will be razed next week, and I will provide photos to the Tribune as well as post on Facebook as I have been in the past months.

In the next few weeks your City Hall will host a Q&A in the Council Chamber to address questions you may have about the water system.
